Do you know that the Buhari administration has flagged-off its new scheme of giving monthly grants of N20,000 to poor women and youths in Gombe and Adamawa states recently?
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadia Umar Farouq flagged-off the payments in Gombe on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 where she said 3,000 beneficiaries have been picked in the 11 LGAs of the State while 4,786 have been chosen in the 21 LGAs of Adamawa State.
A further breakdown of the beneficiaries show that utmost care has been made to ensure that 70% of them will be women while youths constitute 30%. And among them all, 15% of the slots has been specifically allocated to persons with disabilities.
Built into the administration’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme, which is also part of its National Social Investment Programmes, these payments will help these vulnerable groups to begin building small productive ventures that could give their lives new opportunities.
