FG applauds young digital innovators

The Federal Government says its investments in digital literacy and innovation is yielding gains with more young digital innovators being discovered.

 

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa stated this in a message to participants at the Demo Day of a Startup Incubation Program on Abuja.

 

Mr Inuwa who was represented by Mr Yau Garba said new innovators and Start-ups were rapidly being developed on the country as a result of huge investments by the Federal Government in digital literacy programs.

 

He called on the innovators to further develop their ideas in solving socio-economic challenges to compete globally.

 

The Acting Coordinator of the Office for Nigeria Digital Innovation, ONDI, Mr. Yakubu Musa said the startup innovators were selected out of over 1,000 applicants based on the merit of their innovations and pledged the support of the office in developing their ideas.

 

Mr Susumu Yuzurio from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency, JICA, the foreign donor for the event said Japan is interested in developing the digital economic and innovation sector in Nigeria as a gesture of its support for the country hence the importance of the program.

 

The incubation program tagged “I-Hatch” featured a pitching competition of the Eight selected innovators on the feasibility of their ideas.
