About one thousand five hundred youth from the North East geo political zone have participated and completed the N-knowledge training under the National Social Investment Programme N-SIP of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
The youth which were trained for three months in three different clusters of N-Tech, Scripting, and Animation have been provided with starter packs to commence businesses to become self reliant.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony in Bauchi, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadia Umar Faruq noted that the N-knowledge focused on equipping youth with relevant skills to become competent workers, innovators and entrepreneurs for domestic and international digital markets.
Hajia Sadia Umar Faruq represented by a Deputy Director in the Ministry Mr Gidado Abubakar maintained that the N-knowledge was targeting 20 thousand young Nigerian on the global radar to become exporters of world class services and content in creative and information technology sectors.
She explained that the software development and hardware training would be catalyzed to make Nigeria compete favourably across the globe in software development.
In an interview, one of the Facilitators, Basir Umar Tofa said the trainees were exposed to life skills, attitudinal reorientation, work ethics and rules of engagement during the period of the training.
Bashir Tofa said out of the one thousand three hundred and sixty youth short listed under his N-tech training cluster, only seven hundref and seventy one reported.
Some of the trainees spoken to, Aisha Umar Garba from Gombe state and Abdullahi Yunusa from Yobe state who commended the federal government for coming up with the programme promised to make judicious use of the items provided for them to boost their economic status.
Radio Nigeria correspondent observed that amongst the trainees there are the physically challenged, those with hearing impairment and the deaf.
